Michael J Dodden was founded in 1980 by Michael Dodden. In February 1983, Michael J Dodden became Michael J Dodden & Co due to the joining of Guy Hall as partner and in March 1988 Richard Gliddon was also made a partner. In 2016 the partnership introduced a new partner, Ben Cleaveley. The firm has always been situated in North Street, Bridgwater and for most of the time been 34 & 38 North Street. Recently this has changed and the firm now work out of 34 & 46 North Street with 34 still being the main base and front of the business. In March 2019 Richard Gliddon retired from the partnership with Amy Cleaveley, Ben’s sister, joining the partnership. Due to the change of partners Michael J Dodden & Co have changed institute and are now Chartered Certified Accountants.

We are extremely proud to be based in Bridgwater and have a lot of local links through our partners and our staff to local clubs and organisations. This helps us give fantastic local accounting and tax advice to local businesses. Even though our roots are in Bridgwater we have clients around the rest of Somerset, United Kingdom and overseas as far as Hong Kong. In December 2014 we became one of the first accountancy firms in Somerset to become licensed to work on probate work when the rules were changed so that it was just not Solicitors who could perform this
